Message from the Minister

The Government has commissioned Growing Up in Ireland as part of its commitment to improving the lives of all children in Ireland. This study is an exciting and important research project that will provide us with information to improve our understanding of children's lives.

Growing Up in Ireland is a longitudinal study, which means that it will follow the lives of the same group of children and their families for several years. The study will identify how things change and develop in the lives of these children and help us understand the factors that allow children to do well and overcome difficulties.

The results of the study will provide important information and evidence to policy makers and researchers and will support the development of Government policy and services for children.
